Unforgettablemoments
Jürgen and Gisela Schulz opened Alexa Sanatorium. In the process, they added a bath section, dining room and kitchen to their parents’ inn, the Alexa. They kept the name “Alexa,” a short form of Alexandra, Jürgen Schulz’s older sister.
Jürgen Schulz passed the examination to become a chef, and shortly thereafter, was also qualified as a chef trained in special diets.
Addition and modernization: From that point on, each room came equipped with a shower, toilet and telephone.
Hotel Alexa received an additional ten rooms. The original building and annex were connected. In 1982, the hotel offered weekly packages at Christmas and New Year’s for the first time.
Oliver Schulz, a chef like his father, and his wife Carola began working in the parental hotel. That year, Oliver Schulz also became a chef trained in special diets.
During a construction and renovation period of eight months, Hotel Alexa’s roof was extended to accommodate eight new rooms for guests. The bath section, dining hall and hotel lounge/den with fireplace were renovated and expanded.
The den with fireplace, hotel lounge and dining room were completely re-designed.
Over the winter months, the roof was extended to accommodate three new suites. The wellness area was remodeled, extended to 180 m² and equipped with a new sauna, steam bath and infrared pod. We added a spacious relaxation room and lounge for the comfort of our wellness guests. The sauna area received a separate exit to the courtyard with chaise lounges. A terrace was added to the courtyard. Many guest rooms were redecorated. We added parking spaces to the hotel parking lot. An outdoor lift provided the hotel with barrier-free access.
In March 2016, Hotel Alexa celebrated its 50th birthday. The Heinrich and Otto suites were added, increasing the number of double rooms.
All guests rooms now feature a modern, light wood look. The den with fireplace has been refurnished and newly equipped with a self-service drink bar. The fitness room has two new exercise machines. With the elliptical cross trainer, you can ergonomically train several muscle groups while the ergometer is designed to boost stamina. For special muscle training, we have wall bars and a weight bench.
The new Weltenbummerzimmer "Pier '59" is inaugurated as a TV, lounge and computer room. The walls of the room are adorned with original postcards and photographs by senior manager Jürgen Schulz.
After a short, serious illness, we had to bid farewell to company founder Jürgen Schulz in October 2020.
